Meet Our Kait

Kaitlyn Doorhy would be best described as a hard-working, kind, and vivacious young woman. Even at a young age, she achieved a lifetime of accomplishments. She believed in something simple yet profound; “We are all given two hands, one for helping ourselves, one for helping others.

Kait’s life was tragically cut short when she was struck by a vehicle while walking on the sidewalk near her school, Sacred Heart University, shortly after returning for her junior year in August of 2014.  She was just 20 years old.

This dynamic young woman’s achievements included National Honor Society membership in high school, Dean’s list honors in college, membership in Kappa Delta sorority, Girl Scout ambassador, Distributive Education Club of America member, 2009 National Youth Leadership Conference attendee, multi-sport athlete, New York State School Music Association soloist participating in Music in the Parks, blood drive committee member, a member of her high school’s Booster Club, organizer of the local PTSA fashion show and Chief in the Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC).

Mattituck Lions Club Strawberry Queen

She was an avid participant in the church at Sacred Heart Parish (Our Lady of Good Counsel R.C. Church in Mattituck, New York) where she had been an altar server and a volunteer at Maureen’s Haven homeless shelter.

All of this while working as the manager of two restaurants; A Lure Oysteria in Southold, NY, and Amano in Mattituck, NY, as well as a salesperson at Michael Kors.

Another proud moment occurred in 2011 when she was awarded the title of Strawberry Queen at the annual Mattituck Lions Club Strawberry Festival.

As a final act of giving, Kaitlyn donated her organs so others could live. Kait’s Angels picked up where Kait left off. We strive to continue her legacy by living lives of gratitude and compassion.

Kait's Angels Mission

A top priority in every community should be cultivating and nurturing each of resident; not only for their own well-being but to fashion a lifestyle which inspires others, especially the always impressionable youth.  Kait’s Angels is a nonprofit organization headquartered on the North Fork of Long Island that gives back to our North Fork community.  Its mission is the discovery and optimization of one’s value. It is this simple influence that ultimately empowers people to reach their full potential and to set a positive example.

The values we ask our angels to adopt is to have them realize the positive impact of their simple behaviors and actions on those around them.  Principles such as compassion, constructive influences, random acts of kindness, volunteering, productive recreational activities, and personal encouragement are some of the things Kait valued and we promote These things can make a huge difference in your life and the lives of others; plus they create an encouraging and positive environment in which to live.  In essence, lead by example.

The North Fork community is closely connected.  It only takes a small angel act to greatly impact those in need.
Be a part of our community of angels today.
